Weight Loss vs. Weight Gain with Deconstructed Cheeseburger Bowls⠀
.⠀
This is one of my favorite recipes from my 3rd cookbook. It comes together super quickly and it is just a classical American dish in meal prepped form. Weight loss and weight gain is different for everyone and no one meal will necessarily make your weight change. It’s about your relationship to calorie balance over time. If you had a goal of gaining or losing weight and you started to make the majority of your meals like the ones in the photo, you would likely see success. For the potatoes, it’s not really possible to maintain crispiness unless you reheat them on the stove or in a toaster oven. They’ll still taste great in the microwave, just softer. .⠀
.⠀
On the weight loss side there is less meat and half of the amount of potatoes. The left side uses ground turkey instead of beef for a leaner option thus reducing calories. If you equated the fat content of the turkey and beef then you would get similar macros. There is also a greater amount of shaved Brussels sprouts to add volume without stacking up the calories. It’s not lettuce so you can reheat it in the microwave without issue. The weight gain side has double the potatoes and more beef than the weight loss side. I like to serve this dish with a vinegar based BBQ sauce for some moisture and extra flavor. It is calorie sparing when compared to ketchup and gets the job done just as well ??
