I am really appreciative for each of you here – thank YOU!!???? .
Let’s talk about this bowl – okra. Okra or ladies’ fingers (looking at my fingers now?) are really yummy and full of nutrients. I learned this cooking method from my favorite aunt and was surprised at how easy and flavorful it is. This is one of my kids’ favorite dish too.
When buying okra, try to pick those that have lighter green skin, no dark spot and firm to touch.
.
Ingredients:
~ 1 lb fresh okra
~ grilled pearl onions
~ cooked grains
~ white pepper
.
Ginger sesame dressing – In a bowl, whisk together 2 teaspoons grated ginger, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, and 2 tablespoons water until well combined.
.
Bring a pot of 5 cups of water to boil, blanch okra (until they turn darker green) quickly, about 1 minute. Then, drain okra immediately to stop the cooking process. Serve with ginger sesame dressing, dash of white pepper, cooked grains and a side of grilled pearl onion. We usually remove the tip when consuming, but if we have those baby okras, we will consume the whole pod.
*Cooking okra in their whole pod can avoid the gummy texture. .
What do you think? Let me know?? and have a great?FriYay?
