Baked BBQ Tofu Tenders 💚💚💚 These were really soooo yummy. My family ate them all up after doubling the recipe below. I used a new technique with my tofu where you freeze it first, then thaw, & press. It creates more of a “meaty” texture. So happy to learn about this technique through my talented foodie friend Rebecca @thezestylime , who makes some of the best tofu dishes everrr . How you enjoy this recipe as much as we do 🙃
What you need: 15 oz block of extra firm tofu, 1/2 cup of bbq sauce, 1/2 cup whole wheat flour, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, 1 cup coconut milk, 2 tsp apple cider vinegar, 2 tbl bbq sauce, 2 cups panko, 1 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp garlic
1️⃣Freeze block of tofu overnight (-take out of packaging, store in freezer safe container), then thaw to room temp, & press 30 min
2️⃣ Cut tofu into tenders by slicing into 3 large slabs through the depth of block, then cut each slab into 3 pieces through the length, giving you 9 tenders. Marinate in bbq sauce 30 min
3️⃣While tenders are marinating, set up 3 stations for breading. One bowl with flour/salt/pepper/ , second bowl with coconut milk, apple cider vinegar, bbq sauce, last bowl with Panko/paprika/garlic. Line large baking sheet with parchment paper misted with oil
4️⃣Take tofu toss into flour bowl getting all areas, dip into milk bowl shaking off excess, then into Panko bowl making sure it is completely covered, place on baking sheet. Repeat.
5️⃣Bake at 375 F for 30 min flipping half way
6️⃣ I served my tofu tenders with some extra bbq sauce for dipping. 😋😋😋
